You are invited to join RWU Law Housing Clinic for our Presentation & Awards Program at the Rhode Island State House on Thursday, November 19 at 3:00 p.m.
The Housing Policy Clinic is RWU Law’s policy‑focused clinic, where law students collaborate in teams with nonprofit partners to research and advance legislative solutions to pressing housing challenges.
At this event, you will hear about our students' work on three important housing challenges facing Rhode Island:
· Preserving the affordability of manufactured housing communities by strengthening Rhode Island's right of first refusal law.
· Creating more housing along Rhode Island's commercial corridors by helping cities and towns implement the state's new mixed-use zoning requirements.
· Making local land-use decision-making more democratic and accessible to a broader segment of the public through reforms of Rhode Island's Open Meetings Act.
In addition, RWU will:
· Recognize community partners: Neighbors Welcome! RI, Common Cause Rhode Island, and the Cooperative Development Institute.
· Present the annual Housing Policy Clinic Lightkeeper Award to Annette Bourne for her lifetime of housing advocacy.
