Big Week at The State House!

Here’s how to take action and get more homes for Rhode Island!

We’re gearing up for another busy week at the State House. This Tuesday, March 31st, House Committee on Municipal Government & Housing will be hearing three of our bills: Our Technical Fixes bill (H8039)Faith-based Affordable Housing (H7445) and Conversion Incentive (H8142).

On Thursday, April 2nd, the Senate will be hearing our Technical Fixes bill (S2907) and Small-lot Size Reform bill (S2265).

The best way to get involved is to sign up to provide testimony. Why do you want to see more homes built in your community, and how will this bill help?

Testimony Guide

In Person:

  • There will be sign-up sheets for each bill.

  • Arrive by 4:30pm. Hearings can take multiple hours.

  • Let us know if you are coming by emailing our organizer.

  • Limit testimony to 2-3 minutes.

  • Can’t make it in person? Refer to our Written Testimony Guide.

Written Testimony:

If writing on behalf of an organization, include why this legislation is important to its mission. If writing on your own behalf, please make sure to be as personal and unique as you can, tell your story of how Rhode Island’s housing shortage affects you, a family member or someone you know, and why housing availability and affordability is vital to the overall community’s well-being.

For Thursday's hearing, written testimony can be submitted by end of day Wednesday to the Clerk, Alex Rocha, SLegislation@rilegislature.gov cc'ing Chair Bissiallon at sen-bissaillon@rilegislature.gov.
